Shaving the face with acne skin can be a challenge. Using a razor can aggravate inflamed skin and lead to irritation. So how do you take care of your acne-prone skin and beard to avoid aggravating your acne problems?

Proper hygiene

Proper hygiene is crucial in acne skin care. Therefore, if you want to shave the beard growing on your acne-prone skin, you have to pay even more attention to cleanliness and use appropriate cosmetics.

Shaving acne-prone skin with a razor can intensify the symptoms and cause irritation. It is therefore recommended not to shave acne-prone skin. However, if it is impossible, you should approach shaving in a rational way and not do it too often.

First of all, you should use clean and sterile tools. If we do not have the possibility to sterilize accessories, we should use disposable razors. Also the cosmetics, which we use, should be properly matched to the type of skin. They cannot contain irritating and drying substances, such as alcohol. It is best if they are intended for acne-prone skin. You should also remember about regular moisturizing and cleansing of your skin, which will help to deal with irritations.

How to care for acne-prone skin before shaving?

Proper acne skin care will help deal with the problem, making shaving a more pleasant experience. The basis is a thorough cleansing with the right products. They should be mild, designed for acne-prone skin and have a neutral pH. Washing your face with regular soap or shower gel may dry it out and thus increase the risk of acne lesions. It is also important to moisturize the skin daily with gentle creams, and exfoliate regularly with a scrub.

What cosmetics should I use for shaving my acne-prone skin?

Cosmetics, which you use to shave your acne-prone skin, should not contain irritating substances, such as alcohol. If you find it difficult to find products with a good composition, you can replace the shaving foam with tea tree oil, jojoba or argan oil. They will soften the hair, making it more manageable to shave.

How to prepare for shaving acne-prone skin?

Before shaving your acne-prone skin, you can take a quick shower or make a compress on your beard with a warm towel. The warmth will soften the hair follicles and avoid irritation. Wash your hands and disinfect all accessories if possible.

Which razor to choose for shaving acne-prone skin?

If you use a manual razor to shave, choose those with a single blade. They are gentle and will help you avoid jams. Those with several blades may cause irritation on your skin. Shave in the direction of hair growth to avoid cuts. After shaving, pat your face dry gently with a towel without rubbing it. Apply an after shave cream and wash acne lesions with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
