Is it safe for your health to play sports while wearing a mask?

Although some lovers of outdoor physical activities wish the answer to this question was no, a British doctor has proven that wearing a mask while running takes away our comfort, but not our oxygen

Let’s face it – wearing masks is not pleasant, and running in them or riding a bike seems downright impossible. More difficult to breathe (or at least this is how we feel), wet material on the face… well, it is hardly surprising that some people decided to give up outdoor activities for the time of the pandemic.

Is playing sports in a mask really dangerous to your health?

The question of our comfort is one thing, but is it really the case that moving around in a mask poses a risk to our health? None of these things. Only the coronavirus, which then has a more difficult way to spread, is in danger. And the fact that jogging or cycling with a face mask does not cause us to deliver less oxygen to our body has been verified by a British doctor.

Tom Lawton decided to run a distance of 35 kilometers in a mask and at the same time check the oxygen level in the body with a pulse oximeter. How exactly did this test take place? The scientist checked the readings every 30 minutes. What conclusions did he come to? The doctor saw that each result indicated normal oxygen levels at all times.
