We place plants in our apartments mainly from the aesthetic point of view. But it is worth knowing that flowers have a big influence on our health. And no – we don’t mean eating them..

For several years it has been said that switching to vegetarianism is a healthy story. However, it turns out that not only eating plant products positively affects the work of our body. So what else is good for our health? According to experts from Japan’s Chiba University, just looking at flowers improves mood and lowers blood pressure. Scientists proved that looking at red roses for 3 minutes brought a feeling of peace and joy.

It is also worth to know that other scientists – from the University of Pittsburgh – found that people who do gardening feel more calm than their peers who avoid this kind of activities. Experts also found that gardeners have a 50 percent lower risk of developing dementia. What’s more, this outdoor activity can help improve memory – all thanks to the increase in brain volume in the relevant areas that occurs during ‘exercise’ in the garden.

Will you try your hand at nurturing and growing plants this spring?
